When life gets busy and daily responsibilities start swallowing your schedule, you know it’s time for a vacation. In fact, studies show that taking a break from your day-to-day life and experiencing new things can increase productivity, creativity, and ultimately make you a healthier and happier person. When you’re feeling run down and in desperate need of a getaway, you’re probably not the only one. Here are some signs that your furry best friend may be ready for a vacation, as well!
Indicators That Your Dog is Ready For a Getaway
1. Your Pup Seeks Your Attention…All the Time
Lady is an attention hog! Even on normal days, she likes to sit beside me and stare right into my soul with her bright little eyes until I give her a scratch behind the ear. Your pup may be very much the same, but when your dog is feeling bored and restless, they’ll start exhibiting these behaviors much more frequently. Fido may nudge your hand a little more than usual or whine when you don’t give him the attention he wants, right when he wants it. You may also begin to notice that you can’t even go to the bathroom without your furry friend on your heels. When you feel like your dog has become your shadow, they may be trying to tell you that it’s time to start planning a vacation
2. They Want to Go Outside More Than Usual
I think it’s safe to say that a vast majority of dogs like to spend time in the great outdoors. It is part of their natural instincts to get out and explore, after all. However, I know Lady is beginning to feel the urge to go on a new adventure when I find her sitting by the door more than usual. I’ve also trained her to ring a bell when she’s ready to go outside to use the bathroom, but there are times she’ll ring it just because she wants to get out and see the world (even if it’s just the backyard). If your normal walks around the neighborhood just don’t seem to be enough to satisfy your pup recently, it may be time to start thinking about taking your dog to experience new places.
3. They Are Left Home Alone For Several Hours Every Day
None of us can devote time to our dog 24/7, especially if we’re working full-time jobs. As much as we may hate to leave them, it is inevitable that we’ll have to leave them behind to fulfill our daily responsibilities (unless you’re one of the lucky few who get to bring your pup to work every day!). When your furry best friend is left home alone for several hours on end each day, they may begin to feel lonely, bored, distressed, or all of the above. It’s important for us as pet parents to devote time to our beloved dogs and strengthen our bond, and nothing does that better than embarking on a new adventure together.
