The Most Fun Pet-Friendly Things to Do in Sedona, AZ
1. Hiking
A visit to Sedona is practically wasted without embarking on the local hiking trails. In fact, some of the most picturesque trails on the planet can be found within the town’s red rock wilderness.
There are dozens of fantastic routes to choose from that cater to a variety of skill levels, and each provides stunning scenery and landscapes that fit the descriptions of your wildest imagination.
Plus, a majority of the trails are pet-friendly! If you’d like to add hiking to your itinerary, here are some of the most popular Sedona dog-friendly trails!
- Courthouse Butte Loop Trail: This hiking trail was highly recommended to us by our Airbnb host, so of course we had to check it out. We were not disappointed! The 3.9-mile loop wraps around the entirety of Courthouse Rock and features spectacular views of the surrounding red rocks and forests. It took us approximately two hours to finish the hike, including stops to take photos and simply enjoy the scenery.
- Cathedral Rock Trail: Cathedral Rock is an icon in Sedona, and many visitors are delighted to learn that the towering stones are accessible to hikers! After a challenging climb to the saddle between the towers, you and your dogs will be exposed to fantastic views of Bell Rock, Courthouse Rock, and the Mogollon Rim. This is also said to be the site of one of Sedona’s most popular “energy vortexes,” which are rumored to emanate from the red rocks and conduct self-healing.
- Red Rock Crossing Trail: Accessible from Crescent Moon Ranch, the Red Rock Crossing Trail is a dog-friendly hike that is short and sweet yet provides some of the best views in town of the famous Cathedral Rock. Don’t forget to bring your cameras and $10 for parking!
- Devil’s Bridge Trail: As the most popular hiking trail in Sedona, a trip down the Devil’s Bridge Trail is a must in Sedona! The hike is approximately 4.2-miles out and back, and you’ll definitely want to stay on long enough to see the natural sandstone arch known as the Devil’s Bridge. Please keep in mind that there is hardly any shade provided on this trail, so if you plan on bringing your pups, it’s best to enjoy it in the early morning or late evening. Bring plenty of water, as well!
2. Sedona Red Rock Adventure Tours
Sedona Red Rock Adventure Tours is the town’s top tour company and provides visitors with personalized adventures. Whether you’re interested in seeing the red rocks and Indian ruins or quenching your thirst at the local wineries, your guide will put together a tour that perfectly fits your desires and needs.
The best part? All tours are dog-friendly! If your pup gets along with the tour company’s own dog, Summit, they’ll bring him along for the journey too.
